In February, Glasdesign B.V. was awarded the prestigious innovation prize of the flat glass industry for its impressive wall project in the World Trade Centre Rotterdam - a glass wall made of MAGNA Glaskeramik Jade Green pure, which consists of 100% recycled glass. The World Trade Center Rotterdam is a leading location right in the centre of Rotterdam. The backlit wall is located in the centre of the WTC, making it a real eye-catcher for visitors to events and exhibitions.

The special feature of this application is the sustainable and aesthetically pleasing use of MAGNA Glaskeramik, a high-quality material made from recycled glass. Industrial waste such as rejects, faulty production and surplus quantities from flat, solar, coloured and bottle glass production are reused. These glass remnants are crushed into fragments in a controlled manner and run through a complex sintering process without binders or pressure, in which they are fused into new sheets using only temperature and time. Each slab is then cooled to a defined temperature, calibrated, polished if required and cut to size - creating a unique piece with individualised details.

Another highlight is the combination of the MAGNA Glaskeramik wall made of Jade Green pure with a special curtain wall system that integrates aluminium folding doors with a hand-finished brass coating. The translucent properties of the material, in combination with the LED lighting positioned behind it, create a particularly elegant appearance and emphasise the characteristic pattern of the glass structure.
