The original material for our new color Raindrop Clear is a toughened safety glass (ESG) that was used as cover glass for thermal solar collectors or photovoltaics. This glass has a very high transparency due to a low iron content.
These properties also make the manufacturing process a highlight. In contrast to our other starting materials, the thermally tempered raw glass breaks into thousands of small glass pieces on first contact, which pass through our crushing plant like raindrops. The subsequent sintering process produces a homogeneous and very transparent glass ceramic in which the enclosed "raindrops" that give the glass its name create a unique, timeless and lively structure.
Raindrop Clear" is particularly suitable for bending applications and is waiting to be installed in new projects.
